“They're implicated in the genocide, and they share the guilt of this genocide.” In an interview with Bloomberg, political commentator Tucker Carlson said that both the US and UK share the “guilt” of the Israeli genocide in Gaza. Carlson highlighted that both Washington and London are deeply implicated in the genocide due to their financial support of Israel.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Saturday said that his administration is reviewing whether it has the legal authority to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits the city for the UN General Assembly in September, according to The New York Times, Anadolu reports. "I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in The Hague," Mamdani said on The New York Times' The Interview podcast with Lulu Garcia-Navarro. "He's a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court." Mamdani said he was in "an active conversation" with the New York City Law Department over whether he has the authority to direct the New York Police Department to detain a foreign leader. "Whatever the law allows me to do in New York City, that's what we will do, but we won't be writing our own laws to that end," he said. Mamdani had previously said during his mayoral campaign that he would seek to enforce the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant for Netanyahu if the Israeli leader visited New York. Netanyahu dismissed the prospect in a recent interview with radio host Sid Rosenberg, accusing Mamdani of supporting Hamas. "I think he should look at who he's condemning, who he's praising," Netanyahu said. "He's condemning Israel, the one democracy that stands shoulder to shoulder with American values." Mamdani has repeatedly condemned Israel's military campaign in Gaza while also denouncing Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel. In the interview, Mamdani also criticized US policy toward Gaza, saying it is "hard to find a more bankrupt policy approach than what our country has done to Gaza and to Palestine." He also expressed support for the possibility of Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez running for president in 2028, defended New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch's leadership, criticized President Donald Trump's immigration policies while backing cooperation on serious criminal cases, and said affordability remains the defining challenge facing New Yorkers. Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid on Saturday criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over his alliance with far-right religious parties and support for legislation serving their interests, calling for a broad coalition to keep them out of power, Anadolu reports. “There is no point in drawing closer to extremists, trying to reach agreements with them or appeasing them, because they do not appreciate goodwill,” Lapid wrote on the US social media platform X. “Extremists see only one thing: more power,” he said, warning that they would exploit any opportunity and that those who allowed them near power would become their first victims. Lapid accused extremists of using democratic rules to eliminate democracy and said they must be confronted directly. “If laws against you are needed, they will be enacted, and if we have to exclude you, we will exclude you without hesitation,” he said. He called for a “broad and determined alliance against extremists” that would refuse to make any concessions to them. Referring to Netanyahu’s alliance with far-right religious parties, Lapid said the prime minister had believed he could control National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, leader of the far-right Jewish Power party. “But what happened? Who ultimately controlled whom? What laws did they enact, and what policies did they implement? Not because they are geniuses, but because they are extremists,” he added. https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20260718-israeli-opposition-leader-slams-netanyahu-for-alliance-with-far-right-parties/

"He cheated on the United States with a foreign power." In an interview with Bloomberg, political commentator Tucker Carlson has accused President Donald Trump of being "disloyal" to his country, suggesting that he allowed Israel to steer US policy. Carlson argued that Trump allowed Israel to completely allow the US to be dragged into the war with Iran, which has "gravely hurt the United States".

Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir boasted about the harsh treatment of inmates, expressing pride in his efforts to instil fear and assert dominance within Israeli jails. He recounted a visit to the cell of Marwan Barghouti, where he claimed the prisoner was reduced to trembling and cowering in his presence. Ben Gvir mocked previous administrations for disciplining guards who shouted at inmates. Since the genocide in Gaza began in October 2023, Ben Gvir has overseen a sharp deterioration in conditions for Palestinians held in Israeli prisons, including torture, starvation and degradation. Human rights organisations have accused Israel of widespread abuses and have described some detention facilities as "torture camps".

"The Middle East conflict, particularly the long-running struggle between Palestine and Israel, has never been a distant geopolitical issue for Indonesia. At the state level, Jakarta’s position has remained remarkably consistent since independence: rejecting colonialism and supporting Palestinian sovereignty within the pre-1967 borders. This constitutional commitment has served as one of the pillars of Indonesia’s foreign policy on the global stage. Yet beneath the formal diplomatic posture, the issue has evolved into a noisy and increasingly polarised contest of narratives across Indonesian society and the digital sphere. From the perspective of political psychology, the Palestine-Israel debate in Indonesia often functions as a projection screen for unresolved domestic tensions, including identity politics and socio-religious polarisation. This became particularly visible after the escalation of 7th October 2023. While some Indonesian media outlets consistently framed the conflict through the lens of civilian suffering and humanitarian concerns, others attempted to maintain a more neutral editorial position. In practice, however, these nuanced approaches were frequently overwhelmed by social media discourse dominated by binary theological sentiments, exposing a wide gap between the state’s formal diplomacy and the emotional instincts of the public. As a result, a global humanitarian tragedy is often repackaged as a commodity in local political battles. Support for Palestine in Indonesia is far from monolithic. Instead, it is deeply fragmented along ideological lines. Constitutional nationalists tend to approach the issue through the framework of international law and the Two-State Solution, often identifying with the Palestinian Authority and Fatah in the West Bank. The US on Saturday called on its citizens not to travel to Lebanon and northern parts of Israel, citing “high tensions” in the region, Anadolu reports. “Due to high tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation,” the US Embassy in Beirut said in a statement. The US Embassy in Jerusalem also issued a similar warning, stating that Americans “should not travel to Gaza, Northern Israel, and the Egyptian border except for the Taba crossing, and reconsider travel to/through the Middle East.” The developments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where the US and Iran exchange attacks despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June to end their war and reach a lasting peace agreement.

The Belgian federal government, at its final meeting before the summer recess, approved a series of measures, including an import ban on goods originating from the occupied Palestinian territories, Anadolu reports. The import ban was part of an agreement reached by the government at the end of last summer in response to Israel’s military offensive in Gaza and the mounting civilian death toll. Details on how the ban will be implemented have yet to be finalized, according to Belga News Agency. Israel continued to violate the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since Oct. 10, 2025. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israeli ceasefire violations had killed more than 1,100 Palestinians and injured over 3,600 others. The ministry says Israel’s military campaign in Gaza since October 2023 has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and wounded over 173,000, while causing widespread destruction to about 90% of the enclave’s civilian infrastructure. "Madrid played host this week to a strange piece of theater. Ministers gathered to talk about rebuilding Palestinian culture — its cinema, its archives, its museums — at a conference bearing the bloodless title “International Conference on the Reconstruction of Cultural Sector in Palestine.” Indonesia’s culture minister, Fadli Zon, came home with pledges: a Palestinian museum wing at Taman Mini in Jakarta, a cultural center in Jerusalem, a slate of literary translations into Bahasa Indonesia. All very warm. All very photogenic. And all, frankly, beside the point while the thing that actually matters goes conveniently unmentioned. What exactly is the point of restoring a people’s culture if you have no intention of restoring their country? Culture is not a museum piece. It is not embroidery under glass, waiting patiently for a foreign minister to admire it on a conference sideline. It is what a people build while they are living. And Palestinians right now are living under siege, under bombardment, under a two-year campaign that the world’s most credible human rights bodies — and a growing number of Israel’s own former security officials — have stopped dancing around and started calling what it plainly is: genocide. You do not answer genocide with a translation grant. You do not answer the flattening of a people’s universities, hospitals, and archives with a promise to co-produce a film. Minister Zon says he wants Indonesians to know Palestine “not only through conflict, but through civilization, art, tradition.” That line should embarrass him. It treats the extermination of a people as an unfortunate distraction from the real cultural content — when the extermination is the story, and everything else being lovingly cataloged is what’s being erased alongside the bodies. Look closely at what Jakarta actually offered. A wing in an amusement park, for “the Palestinian struggle” — struggle rendered as diorama, struggle you can walk past on the way to the food court." ✍️ Opinion by Dr. Muhammad Zulfikar Rakhmat Read full article via the link in bio

Democratic congressman Ro Khanna and Republican congressman Thomas Massie explained on Breaking Points why in both their parties support for Israel has not waned despite popular opinion in the US shifting away from supporting Israel. The discussion took place in light of the recent bill proposal put forward by Massie which would have blocked $3.3bn in defence aid from being directed to Israel. Despite the bill not passing the vote this week, it showed a stark change in positions within the Democratic Party, where a majority of representatives voted in favour of the bill.
